Today on Father’s Day, Laureen and I offer best wishes to all fathers across Canada.

Fathers play a significant role in the family, instilling values, wisdom, discipline and respect. They have an important duty to teach, guide and care for their sons and daughters, which is critical to the foundation of strong families. They provide a safe and loving environment at home, while nurturing and protecting their loved ones.

As a father myself, I recognize the enormous responsibility and lifetime of commitment this privilege entails and the patience, empathy and hard work required. I also deeply value the unparalleled joy and pride that comes with being a dad. Not to mention the fact that it has given me a better understanding and appreciation of my own father.
